My Dad experienced (horrendous) corporal punishment in school. Do we need it today?

Caning was once a favored form of discipline among people of Irish extraction. There is a big difference between discipline and abuse. Controlling people with fear is never good. This is what dictators do. However, I do believe that there is not enough hell to pay in our schools today. Kids get away with murder and eventually our society will pay the price. Children must learn that for every action, there is a consequence.
