I have a Dell Laptop 1525 Computer and I have wifi to get internet, built in. If I am out of town, details....

Okay, If I am out of town away from home. I check my network connections for me to connect to so I can get on the Internet. But alot that pop up everytime I refresh the page thing, they all basically say secured network. Sometimes, If i am lucky, there are a few unsecured networks, and thats what I need. The secured networks need you to type a pword in. Is there a way to get a very good high internet connection when you are out of town??? I have this laptop and I just wanted to know, can i get on the internet when i am away from home? if i cannot at all get on it, is it really worth bringing it with me at all?
