I have a 10 week old female GSD?

and I am trying to introduce her into our household with a 4 year old male GSD, she has been with us for 2 weeks now, he ignored her at the begining them became playful a little, but she keeps biting him and pouncing on top of him. We do not keep them together when we are out, but try short spurts putting them together when we are in. My male dog is getting abit growly on occions, and puts her down on the floor, I then separate them at this point, Is this the right thing to do?, I am desperate for them to get on, has anybody any good tips for us
